5 Reasons You Should Consider Doing A Child’s First Aid Course!

This post was written by Aysha who runs Daisy First Aid Horsham, Haywards Heath & Surrounding area’s. Aisha teaches 2 hour paediatric first aid classes to parents and carers. I’ve asked her to cover my sick leave by telling us all about why we should consider a First Aid Course.

Let’s be honest… how can you not when you are potentially teaching people how to save a life?! I get to meet lovely parents, expectant parents, grandparents, other family members and of course lots of adorable new babies!

As parents it might be difficult to think about what would happen in an emergency. Would we panic, stay calm, would you now what to do?

I believe passionately that all parents should learn these vital skills for the following reasons;

– First of all, if you don’t know what to do in an emergency, the likelihood is that all you will do is panic!

⁃ You could save someone’s life. First aid isn’t just about your children but others around you. You’ll have a skill set that can help others too.

⁃ Knowledge is power! By taking part in a course you will feel more confident when your child is ill or when an accident happens.

⁃ As well as life saving skills we will teach you how to deal with more common childhood injuries and conditions. Choking is a common hazard with young children and it is vital that you can act quickly and in the right way

⁃ Hands on practice helps you to know if you will react in a calm way, we encourage both parents to take part as you won’t know how you will react in any given situtation. Also one parent may be on hand and it’s better for both parents to feel in control if anything happens on their watch.
