Last week I was invited to a small Brighton Based event called BelongCon. The event started as a conference and now is a series of small/medium events scattered around Brighton. This month they have co-ordinated the Self Love Sessions.
The intention of these events is to open up the conversation between ourselves and others with the aim of inspiring belonging, acceptance and community. With tickets ranging from £5 to £10 it is a low cost way to create a little love in the community through a variety of speakers with different world views and experience.

Our first ever Self Love Sessions on Wednesday night was wonderful! 💕 Thank you so much to our speakers @thesologamist @sacred_tantric_touch_ @beautysciencemagic @juiceandjasmine @rpdied1 @thecillyblack and our host @sophiejturton for creating a fantastic evening of conversation about self love, pleasure, embodiment, owning our full selves and more 🙌 • • • Don’t miss our next event: BelongCon Spring 2019 on 26th March @platf9rm – tickets on sale now at the link in bio 👏 • • • #selflove #selfcare #belonging #loveyourself #loveyourselffirst #pleasure #sologamy #selfacceptance #belongcon
The BelongCon that I attended was at a local venue The Nightingale Rooms. If you are like me and introvert in real life with a slight extrovert online life then this is the perfect setting. I felt that the amount of people wasn’t overpowering for me (sometimes I feel this way at bigger conference) and was just enough to feel calm and comfortable.

Our own @alice_reeves shared her mental health story on our blog recently, and talked about how difficult she’d found it to open up about her experiences. At BelongCon we’ve seen how powerful talking about these topics can be, and these are the kinds of discussions we’ll be aiming to start at Brighton & Hove Sharing City on 27th November with @peoplewhoshare – please join us! #sharing #mentalhealth #wellbeing #timetotalk #brighton #breakthestigma #conversation
“BelongCon is all about bringing people together. My goal is
that everyone who comes along feels uplifted, empowered, and knows that whatever they’re going through, they aren’t alone.”
Our host was Sophie Turton.
Our speakers for the evening were:
Michelle Robertson, Sophie Tanner, Joshua Vine, Lucy Rowett, Robert Potter.
All of the speakers had a unique but relatable story and I loved how they spoke personally – it definitely meant that the audience had a connection as was confirmed by the laughs, sighs and head nodding in the audience. The speakers had obviously been curated to work well together and that was also seen in the Q&A sections of both parts of the evening (the evening was 7-9:30 with an interval for drinks).
For me I will try and attend again. I think for the cost of a ticket you will take away some valuable stories and guidance for your everyday life. I felt that the room was so in tune with each speaker and this is a space to watch for some magical happenings!

I was given 2 tickets to attend BelongCon (worth £10) but all words are honest and my own (unless quoted but I'm sure you can get which those are!)
