First Impressions Review //Diono Quantum Travel System Pram

Over the years we have tested quite a few buggies and recently as we’ve downgraded to stroller we have noticed a few things we’ve been missing so when Diono asked us to road test a pram to buggy system we thought why not!

The first thing we noticed when the Diono Quantum arrived is the box is so small! How can a quite substantial pram fit into a small box. But a bit like the Tardis the buggy was definitely bigger than we expected!

The Diono Quantum took only 15 minutes to put together in toddler seat mode (we will be testing with a family member who is expecting later in the year in pram mode).

What did we like about the Diono Quantum:

The huge seat – this fits in both the boys with growing room! Jedi has just turned 3 and he had more than enough room to sleep and stretch out in this pram. It has a very generous sizing which made our 20 month Beatlebum look like a baby!

The huge basket – the basket was enough to fit in all the kids things (the boys have a rucksack each for nursery and Fizz has one for her bits and pieces) including a picnic blanket for impromptu park trips and a lot of food shopping in! It has two elastic attachments which hold the rain cover in one place so you don’t have to scramble for it under the buggy in a rain shower!

The huge hood – theres not need for parasols or sun shades as the hood fully extends over the entire seat! This was my favourite feature! It had a peekaboo hood.

A generous pocket in the back of the seat – This is perfect for your phone, purse and keys!

The large frame – the frame at the back of the buggy has been used for the older toddler as it’s wide enough for him to hop on without the aid of a buggy board and the frame is definitely sturdy enough to take his weight.

The handle – As I am 5ft3 and Gav 5ft11 the extendable handle is a great thing! Also extending a handle makes a difference for us when we have to bump down our flat stairs as it makes it easier on our backs and feels more stable.

What could make the Diono Quantum better:

As with any kind of travel system it is heavier than our strollers. This is only to be expected and can feel like a struggle with Jedi in the seat. However there were a few things I might change.

The handle  – the handle is square rather than rounder and quite thick. This meant when bumping I did feel it may slip as I couldn’t get a full grip around it.

The steer – I think this may be down to the handle and the boys weight rather than the wheels or suspension as in parent facing toddler mode I felt this was more difficult. However in world facing mode I had no issues at all.

Overall though this seems a very good value buggy at a great price of £499. You only need to buy a car seat with this as the carrycot turns into the toddler seat with a few simple easy clasps. I found that the carrycot was a super generous size compared to brands that feature a separate carrycot. The multi mode capability wont be lost on parent that needs a full travel system and doesn’t want to have to find different bits and pieces. This pram has it all in one box!
