Self-care is important. Looking after yourself helps with all aspects of your life, including your mood, health, and relationships. But the problem for many women is that they don’t pamper themselves in the room where they spend the most time: the bedroom.
Our bedrooms are often depressing, boring places. They’re not exactly set up for pampering, that’s for sure. The sheets are uncomfortable, the lighting is bad, and there are hardly any luxuries.
So what can you do to give your bedroom that spa feel?
Use Good Smells

It’s no mystery that the stimuli coming into our senses affect the way we perceive the world. Everybody knows that light and noise at night are bad for sleep. But what about smell?
It turns out that the type of smell you have in your bedroom is also important. Studies have shown that the scent of lavender can actually help improve mood among people with a tendency for depression. And so sticking some fresh lavender in a vase could be an excellent way to add a bit of luxury to your bedroom while at the same time helping to elevate your mood in a natural, healthy way.
Because there isn’t a lot of money to be made from fresh herbs and plants, very few studies have been done on the effects of plant smells on mood, but it’s unlikely that lavender is the only species that has a mood-enhancing effect. You could try all sorts of herbs and spices.
A Luxury Mattress
A great mattress is essential for helping you get a great night’s sleep. But according to Choose Mattress, there are many different types. How do you know which one to get?
The answer depends on listening to your own body. Some people will benefit from memory foam mattresses, while others from hybrid mattresses. Ultimately, you want a mattress that will make you feel pampered and cozy.
A Soft Bedside Rug

Bedrooms with hardwood floors look stunning. But when it comes to comfort, they can be a little lackluster. However, by putting down a soft bedside rug, you get the best of both worlds. Not only do they look incredibly stylish, but they’re also soft on your toes in the morning.
Think back to when you were a child, and you had to stay over at grandpa and grandma’s house. Do you remember the sheets? They were rough and uncomfortable, making getting to sleep a bit of an ordeal. Today, even the most basic sheets are much improved, but they could still be made better.
The best sheets on the market are 400 to 800 tog. This is a measure of the number of individual fibers packed into the sheets. The finer the fibers, the more comfortable the sheets. Though there are sheets on the market with more than 800 tog, they’re usually costly and don’t really offer any additional comfort.
Most women say that the most comfortable weave is satin or silk. Again, these are more expensive, but they’re worth it if you want something soft against your skin.
