Tips for Throwing a Garden Party to Remember

Nothing quite beats those balmy summers evenings spent relaxing with friends. As winter rolls around and we begin to wave goodbye to 2017, the thought of throwing a garden party is probably the last thing on your mind. However, the savvy shopper can find some great bargains on summer furniture during the winter months as companies look to clear their excess stock and make way for next year’s styles and trends.

In this article we take a look at some of the things that make any garden party a night to remember. It is never too early to start gathering the right furniture and laying down plans for entertaining friends and family in the new year.

Invitations

In today’s increasingly digital world, it is all too easy to forget about the good old fashioned analogue methods of communication. Writing letters has gone out of fashion now that we have e-mail and even the postcard, once a staple of any journey abroad, has been made largely redundant by social media.

When throwing a party however, it is still worth putting together some physical invitations, not only do these now carry with them a certain novelty value, but they are a great way of conveying information and, unlike an e-mail, they are less likely to get buried under a mountain of spam and completely missed by the recipient.

You can use the invitation to inform your guests about what you intend to serve as well as perhaps asking them to bring with them a bottle of wine, maybe even some food to add to the platter.

Furniture

The furniture you provide to your guests will say a lot about your party, of course you need to make sure that you have enough seats for everyone but you also want to make sure that your furniture conveys a degree of style. This folding trestle table, for example, is an excellent addition to any patio furniture collection.

If you don’t want to invest in brand new furniture, you can find some excellent bargains by purchasing second-hand, or you can even rent the furniture. Renting is a great way to get some very high end and expensive furniture to use for a fraction of the price.

Lighting

If you are throwing your party in the evening, then you may well find that the natural light of the setting sun already provides the perfect ambience for your party. However, when it gets dark you will obviously want some way of keeping things illuminated.

Ambient lighting comes in a number of different forms, fairy lights are a wonderful and subtle way of lighting the environment, or you could invest in some other forms of garden lighting.

Throwing a party is always fun. They are excellent opportunities to show off your party planning, cooking, and general hosting skills. With a bit of planning and some investment, you can throw a party to remember, if it’s good enough you might even score a reciprocal invitation from your guests when they throw their own party.
